Donate Your Time…Become A Volunteer

The Bonner County History Museum relies on volunteers of all ages, cultural backgrounds, and levels of experience to accomplish its mission.   In order to continue to document, preserve, and interpret local history, we need you help on such projects as compiling genealogical records, answering research requests, conducting an inventory of artifacts, working at the front-desk, scanning and cataloging photographs, and indexing the oral history collection.Volunteering can be a regular weekly commitment, or can involve specific, activities like the annual plant sale, researching and creating an exhibit or a short article for the newsletter on a particular piece of local history. Volunteers are also needed to conduct oral history interviews. You can also consider joining one of our committees:

The BCHS Education Committee collaborates with Museum staff to create high-quality educational programs for the Museum and to build relationships between educators, the museum and the community. The Committee helps to ensure that Museum programs and tours present meaningful, relevant and accurate information to visitors in a developmentally and culturally appropriate way. Education programs are designed to appeal to teens, students, families, adults, and visitors with disabilities.

This committee works with museum staff to maintain, promote and grow BCHS fundraising opportunities through an annual recruitment drive, targeted markets and events, and monthly programs. The committee will also help maintain membership and sponsorship recruitment materials (such as brochures and application forms), ensure prompt follow-up for new and renewed members, and ensure membership forms are available at targeted community and society events. This committee also works with staff to research, develop and write potential grants.

With an overall goal of increasing awareness and visitation, the purpose of the this Committee is to assist in maintaining the museum’s web site and social media sites, creating and distributing all marketing materials, assisting in furthering the museum’s brand, educating the public of museum exhibits, programs and events, as well as supporting all fundraising projects. Additionally, this committee will work with museum staff to create a comprehensive annual fundraising event plan including goals/desired outcomes and theme of each event. If you would like to join our volunteer staff, please contact the Museum at 263-2344 for more information.
